Documentary artist, Audrey Ray Daniel’s
camera celebrates the work of disabled artists and
the vision of
Elias and Florence Ludens Katz who founded the centers
for artists
with disabilities in the Bay Area.
Zoom In: Why Violence ( 28:00) Work of students (ages
9 to 15)
at Bayview Hunter’s Point Center for Arts and
Technology (BAYCAT)
which explores ways violence is
part of
our lives and asks and attempts to answer the question, “Why?”
Garden of Friendship (:26:00) The collaborative process
necessary
to create a monumental mural is inspiring and alive
in St.
Petersburg, Russia where in 2003, a group of Precita
Eyes muralists and students,
parents, teachers,
neighbors and other artists created a fantastical vision
drawn from
Russian mythology.
Prom Night (30:00) Local filmmaker Stephanie Miller
and coproducer
Ilsa Bertolini chronicle the events and preparations
for
the 10th Annual Bar Area Gay Prom and follow the daily
lives of
the youth who worked to make it happen.
Quilts in Women’s Lives (26:00)
Pat Ferrero’s
memorable portraits of quilt makers who reveal the

The Bubbleman (5:00) Local filmmaker, Karil
Daniels showcases a unique and whimsical performance
by Bubble
Artist, Sterling Johnson, who creates fascinating
and unbelievable bubble sculptures, using only his
hands.
Bubble (4:59) is a short performance art film about isolation in
urban life written, produced and directed by Bernal resident,
Marque Cornblatt.
Great Highway (6:00) Precita neighbor Mark Gunson
explores San Francisco’s history of beach and surfing
culture through the eyes of Fleishhacker Swimming Pool lifeguards
in the 1940’s shown as a short trailer from the full length
documentary.
Luba: The Mother Teresa of Art (13:10) Produced and
directed by Andover Street filmmaker, Elizabeth
Stephens, this portrait
video features an artist living in upstate New York whose daily artwork
is born of past suffering and life
changes.
Sound of a Voice (17:30) based on a one-act play by
David Henry Hwang recounts a Japanese ghost story of an encounter between
a
samurai and a witch. Submitted and directed by Bernal filmmaker,
Susan Hoffman.
Outside In Sight (28:00) – warmly portrays a
San Francisco jazz quartet that grew out of the Bay Area’s
multicultural and politically engaged social environment through
interviews, glimpses
of onperformance
life, rehearsals and concert appearances. Resident
filmmaker, Sharon Wood shares
production and direction credits; Emiko Omori shares
cinematography and photography credits.
One Wedding & A Revolution (18:00) Academy Award winning producer,
Debra Chasnoff’s and
co-producer, Kate Stilley’s documentary captures the first
government-sanctioned wedding of a gay/lesbian couple in San Francisco
and reveals the frenzy
of political activity behind and in front of City Hall.
Girl Trouble (57:00) is an intimate portrait of
three girls who go in and out of San Francisco’s juvenile delinquency
system over four years, facing heartbreaking setbacks and surprising
successes.

Crazy Lego
Monkey(2:08) – 10-year-old Bernal Heights filmmaker, Noah
Gavrich offers his personal take on Harry Potter in a stop-animated short
and teams up with friends to create a second “funny looking” animated
character.
The Bubbleman (5:00) Local filmmaker, Karil
Daniels showcases a whimsical performance of unique soap bubble-
making by Bubble Artist, Sterling Johnson.
Bernal Town (30:00) Bernal kids,
residents and neighborhood landmarks star in this
original neighborhood fable of an evil developer
who wants to make money by corrupting the area’s old-fashioned
virtues. Creator and resident artist, Gregory
Gavin offers a rare screening of this much beloved film prior to
its
10th anniversary.
Alonzo King Goes to Venice (30:00) Long-time Bernal resident,
Alonzo King, Co-founder and Artistic Director of the world reknown
Lines Ballet leads his modern dance troupe to the 2004 Venice Biennale.
Race Is the Place (56:00) Independent
producers Rick Tejada-Flores and Ray Telles with
long established roots in the Mission district, explore
the issue of race through the perspective of performers
in music, dance, poetry, comedy, drama and media.
Talent includes Amirii Baraka, Danny Hoch, Cluture
Clash,
Michael Franti, Andy Bumatai, Ahmed Ahmed and others.
